    Your role and responsibilities

    IBM Think is IBM’s omnichannel media and events hub, bringing together content that generates awareness, engagement, impact and new digital relationships with visitors and clients. We’re building a team of creators, writers, journalists and technologists who can help people better understand and successfully adopt emerging technologies. We’ll do this by producing exclusive, high-quality content—explainers, feature articles, thought leadership, industry news and analysis, podcasts, newsletters, tutorials, demos and more—that help visitors make sense of new technologies and new ways or working, and connect them to ways IBM can help.

     

    As Editorial Team Lead, you’ll be responsible for driving timely production of high-quality, engaging content that answers questions and furthers interest in technical and business topics relevant to IBM products and services. Reporting to the Content Director, your primary responsibilities will be to

     

    - Lead a team of 3-5 writers focused on a particular IBM market (e.g. AI, data management, automation, cloud computing).

     

    - Produce a variety of content—explainers, feature stories, interviews, blogs, email copy, data visualizations and more—on a regular schedule (e.g. one page or item per writer per week).

     

    - Drive and facilitate team collaboration with product managers, digital strategists, subject matter experts (SMEs), salespeople and search engine optimization (SEO) analysts, to develop content that resonates with business and technical audiences and meets them where they are in their buyer journey.

     

    - Cultivate expert internal and external sources on relevant technical and business topics.

     

    - Develop, edit and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

     

    - Learn and observe IBM style and content standards across all content.

    Required technical and professional expertise

    * Bachelor’s degree in journalism, advertising, English or related field

    * 8+ years’ experience as a writer, editor or contributor for an IT or business publications, or for creative agencies servicing IT industry clients.

    * 4+ years’ experience managing, editing and developing writers.

    * Strong research, interviewing, storytelling and pitching skills, and demonstrated success applying these skills to marketing content, supported by writing and content samples.

    * Understanding of IT concepts, particularly in the areas of AI, data management, digital automation and cloud computing.

    Preferred technical and professional experience

    * Data journalism: Experience analyzing technical or business data to uncover story ideas and produce compelling visualizations. Experience with programming and tools for data analysis and data visualization is a plus.

    * Success working with graphic designers to develop illustrations and diagrams explaining complex technical concepts and procedures.

    * Familiarity with content management systems (esp. Adobe Experience Manager) and project management tools (Jira, Airtable).

    * Experience producing derivative promotional content (video scripts, emails, social media).

    * Basic understanding of SEO.
