    Position Summary

    The Director, HMG Hospital Based Services will support the vision and direction for the clinical care delivered at Hunterdon Medical Center by the providers who support the following care areas: pediatrics, developmental pediatrics, neurology, critical care, pulmonology, nephrology, hospitalists and other hospital-based departments as designated. The Director is responsible for ensuring that the appropriate level of clinical provider care is scheduled 24/7 to cover the service lines and in accordance with the contracts of all of the assigned providers. As the leader, the Director will develop and implement efficient clinical workflows, policies and procedures and interact/collaborate with HMG leadership to ensure that providers assigned to both HMG practices and clinical services are staffed properly for both areas of clinical care. The Director will oversee all of the billing and claims submissions for all hospital based provided services to ensure that documentation and billing meets regulatory compliance rules/regulations and revenue for all services is collected with minimal denials. The Director will identify when coding and documentation education is required and/or when new services are identified and updates are required for the various billing charge masters (Affinity and/or NextGen) and communicate appropriately to leadership to implement. The Director tracks and interfaces with HMG Business Analyst to ensure proper tracking and calculation of productivity incentives for payment to providers, as well as any other incentive payments outlined in provider contracts. The Director supervises and has direct responsibility for a Coordinator who will support all of the administrative tasks required to effectively run and manage the inpatient hospital-based HMG services. The Director of hospital-based services is responsible for the strategic planning, operational management, and leadership of HMG hospital-based programs and services. This includes achieving organizational objectives related to financial performance, staff engagement, regulatory compliance and service growth. The director works closely with hospital administrators, clinical leaders, and external stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency and promote a culture of excellence. Primary Position Responsibilities

     

    1. Primary Lead for hospital-based HMG services to ensure proper 24/7 scheduling to meet patient care and regulatory/compliance requirements; application of provider contracts and clinical hours to ensure all providers are being held accountable to contracted hours and services; ensuring submission of coding and billing for proper collection of revenue; interface with Central Billing Office, as needed, to address issues or to add/manager new services for proper billing and collection of revenue; manage department level HR process for onboarding and payroll processing, and perform any other duties, as assigned, by Medical Directors/Chairs of hospital-based HMG service areas 2. Responsible for planning, organizing, and supporting hospital-based HMG practices. 3. Directs and/or works with Medical Directors and Chairs to develop, implement, and ensure consistent application of effective organizational policies, procedures, protocols and practices for clinical care areas. 4. Strategizes and drives process improvement to improve operations, outcomes, and patient safety. 5. Develops a culture of continuous improvement, through delivery, expert advice, facilitation, coaching and guidance; Reviews, prepares, analyzes, and presents reports and recommendations to senior leadership. 6. Supervises, manages, and coaches Department Coordinator to effectively carry out daily duties and responsibilities and support of the Department. 7. Special Projects and other duties as assigned. 8. Financial management a. Prepare and manage budgets for HMG Hospital-Based services, ensuring cost- effective operations b. Identify opportunities to optimize revenue streams and control expenses. c. Participate in financial forecasting and reporting for hospital-based programs 9. Quality and compliance a. Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations, as well as accreditation requirements (Joint commission) 10. Stakeholder engagement a. Service as primary liaison between HMG hospital-based providers and external partners, including community organizations and regulatory agencies b. Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, clinicians, and hospital leadership to support program objectives 11. Operational oversight a. Oversee the day-to-day operations of HMG hospital-based services, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with policy and regulations b. Establish and monitor performance metrics, addressing any gaps to meet quality, financial and operational goals c. Ensure the availability of and optimal use of equipment, facilities, and resources

    Qualifications

    Minimum Education:

    Required: Associate Degree in healthcare or related field

     

    Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or related field

     

    Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation): Required: Five (5) years progressive practice management and/or service line leadership experience in physician practices and hospital-based services. Preferred: Five (5) years progressive management experience in a medical environment.

     

    License, Registry or Certification: Required: N/A

    Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

    Required:

    o Maintain a working knowledge of current billing, clinical practice and regulatory requirements and demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Best Practice Standards. o Ability to foster a patient-centric culture that emphasizes patient excellence in all aspects of care. o Expert verbal, written and presentation skills are required. Excellent communication skills. o Must possess high level knowledge and maintain accountability for clinical standards, licensure, certifications, education, privileging and education for clinical staff. o Must have the ability to work collaboratively as project team lead, effecting change largely through influence. o Must demonstrate high level of analytical and critical thinking skills in all domains of patient care and practice operations. Preferred: Knowledge of CMS and JCAHO requirements
