    Job Description

    The salary range for this position is at $90,000 - $130,000 annually. We take into consideration an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.

     

    1. Job Summary:

     

    The Director of Employee Relations is to serve as a strategic business partner and provide leadership related to policies and procedures, compliance, employee relations and project management. The incumbent directs the work of the People and Culture Business Partner team in providing high level service in alignment with the mission and business plan. This is a hands-on role, responsible for both team and client portfolio management.

     

    2. Essential Functions:

    + Hire, develop, supervise, and lead a team of Business Partners in providing high level partnerships and services. This includes organizational change initiatives, compliance with State and Federal laws and YMCA policy, team member investigations, coaching on performance management and conflict resolution, and planning and implementation of people and culture initiatives.

    + Lead and support people and culture strategies and initiatives to align with the organization’s mission and objectives, through the lens of equity, diversity and inclusion.

    + Ensure consistent interpretation, delivery and administration of people and culture policies and best practices.

    + Lead the efforts of maintaining, updating and training on the YMCA of the North's Team Member Handbook and acknowledgement.

    + Stay informed on evolving employment laws and industry standards; design and lead initiatives to align organizational policies with current legal requirements and continuously monitor the regulatory landscape to remain proactive and compliant.

    + Oversee compliance with federal, state and local laws regarding communication requirements and deliverables to mitigate risk.

    + Oversee the development and delivery of comprehensive people and culture training on performance management, policies and procedures, performance review process, and other leadership development efforts to enhance workplace competencies and success.

    + Partner and consult with DEI professionals to develop policies and practices that cultivates cultural competency and equity.

    + Direct, lead and manage complex projects and create an environment of continuous process improvement.

    + Collaborate with people and culture team on efforts related to HRIS, recruitment, benefits, compensation, training and development in providing consultation and services to branches, camps and programs.

    3. Relationships:

     

    This position reports to the Vice President of Team Member Relations and Development. The incumbent interacts regularly with all levels of management including Senior Leadership, Branch Executives, and Program Directors as well as team members. The incumbent is responsible for directly supervising the People and Culture Business Partners.

     

    4. Qualifications:

    Required:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field.

    + Minimum of (7) seven years of experience as a Business Partner with at least (3) three years of experience supervising and/or give work directions and coaching to staff in a HR related capacity.

    + Experience in employee relations, performance management, compensation administration and recruitment.

    + Thorough knowledge of local, state and federal Employment and Labor laws and regulatory compliance.

    + Demonstrated knowledge of HR best practices.

    + Proven track record as a leader and results-oriented HR professional with the ability to interact and influence people cross functionally.

    + Demonstrated ability to use good business judgment and effective interpersonal skills in conflict resolution.

    + Strong history of quickly building relationships, gaining credibility and partnering with business leaders and peers.

    + Must have strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

    + Excellent consultative, interpersonal and communication skills.

    + Ability to translate complex information into a transparent format and present to a varied audience.

    + Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

    + Strong computer skills including Microsoft office suite, HR systems expertise and reporting.

    Preferred:

    + SPHR certification

    5. Work Conditions:

    + Ability to travel locally to branches, camps and program sites on a regular basis.

    + Ability to operate computer keyboard and communicate via electronic messaging and telephone.

    + Ability to work on a computer for an extended period of time.

    6. Additional Notes:
