    8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday – Friday)

    *A flexible work schedule may be approved with up to two days remote work per week (if applicable)

     

    Salary Range: Hourly from $28.82 to $42.31; Annually from $60,176 to $88,343

    THE POSITION AND THE DEPARTMENT

    The Communications Specialist will lead all communication plans for Normandale students through planning, design generation, and distribution across various media platforms (web, print, email, text etc.).

     

    This position will develop and implement policies, procedures, guidelines, and goals for strategic student communication that protects and enhances the College's image and identity and ensure factual, appropriate, and timely information.

     

    The Communication Specialist will lead the College to develop, clarify, edit, and publish content for student communications throughout the educational life cycle. This position will be responsible for creating content that is accurate, timely and in line with the College's mission, vision, values, and brand. The

     

    Communications Specialist will work to review content and messaging to ensure the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility are included and reflected. This position will develop and implement a strategic communication plan that supports the College's strategic plan. The Communications Specialist reports to the Director of Student Services.

     

    This position will actively advance the college’s strategic goals, including to achieve equity in educational outcomes and to support a culturally responsive and service-oriented culture, through individual and departmental efforts.

    YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Two (2) years of related experience including one (1) year of experience working with communication technology platforms, including customer relationship management (CRM), content management system (CMS), texting platforms, enrollment management or communication software. An associate degree may sub for six (6) months experience, bachelor’s degree may sub for twelve (12) months professional experience.

    + Best practices in communications to plan, design, write, and edit print and electronic communications materials.

    + Strong organizational and technical skills to develop and maintain a cyclical communication calendar and just-in time communications while maintaining high standards of accuracy, clarity, and sensitivity.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex ideas in plain language to relevant stakeholders including students.

    + Demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity through inclusive design and language.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree in Communication, Business, Education, or a related field

    + Experience configuring, implementing, and filtering data to establish specified groups within technologies for the purpose of communication pl ans.

    + Experience working in higher education

    + Experience analyzing data to evaluate communication strategies and campaigns to determine effectiveness

    + Experience with marketing or communication plan development

    + Experience developing strategies for improving email and SMS campaigns in a high-volume, fast-paced, customer service-oriented educational institution.
