Junior Logistics Specialist (PMS-2025-23042)
Bowhead seeks a Junior Logistics Specialist to support fleet maintenance operations and vessel support services at Kings Bay, Georgia. Duties include Inventory, Admin, and Purchasing. The candidate will also provide support to the organization’s Hazardous Material Manager, assisting in the preparations of Hazardous Material declaration forms and certifications.
Responsibilities
Inventory– Assist in maintaining multiple inventories designated for specific projects. Coordinate shipping/receiving of inventories, ensuring no interruption in project timelines.
Admin– Assist in special projects and programmatic assignments, covering a wide variety of subjects, which requires knowledge of company policies. Review, edit, and process memoranda, technical documents, and other communications, maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and professionalism. Compile financial information to be used in the formulation of budget proposals. Maintain department files. Compile, develop, and catalog statistical data for administrative, technical, and statistical reports.
Purchasing Specialist –Perform Product Research, Purchasing, Tracking, Receiving, Staging, and Re-crating all parts ordered for various task orders received. Assist in the execution of complex procurement activities, ensuring that goods and services are procured in compliance with sound purchasing practices. Develop/review vendor solicitations to include statements of work, technical and functional specifications, qualifications, award criteria, terms and conditions, bidding schedules, guideline/instructions to offerors, and necessary attachments for approval in the acquisition of goods and services.
Ideal Candidate will have experience with purchasing inventory management, theability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information and reports, research and analyze related work program information, develop, recommend, interpret, and apply policies and procedures, analyze financial records, and prepare reports. Candidate must have knowledge of the principles and practices of mathematics and statistics.
This is an entry level position, performing assigned aspects of technical supply management related to research, procurement, receiving, warehousing, and inventory.
Qualifications
+ High school graduate or equivalent.
+ Desire for career growth and advancement
+ Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with ability to work alone or as part of a team.
+ Excellent oral and written communications skills—must be comfortable and effective in communicating with all levels of customers and employees in person, via telephone, and email—must respect confidentiality of subject matter.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; experience with database, internet, and spreadsheet software.
+ Strong organizational skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
+ Must be able to satisfactorily complete company-provided HAZMAT Shipper’s Certification Course.
+ Must be able to satisfactorily complete company-provided fork truck certifications.
+ Must have general understanding of U.S. Navy organizations, functional missions, environment, and programs.
+ Clean background and drug screen required.
Physical Demands:
+ Candidate must be able to lift items up to 40 pounds unassisted. With items weighing more than 40 pounds, use 2-person lift or specialized equipment to meet the needs of the lift
+ Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
+ Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Must currently hold a security clearance at the Confidential level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Confidential clearance at this location.
