    Neurodiagnostic Technologist Ypsilanti, MI

     

    Schedule: All Shifts- Must have on call availability

    POSITION** **PURPOSE

    The EEG Technologist provides professional quality patient care during neurodiagnostic testing. The primary accountabilities of the EEG Technologist is having knowledge, competence in neurodiagnostic testing such as but not limited to EEG, vEEG, cEEG and EMU monitoring applications.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND** **RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Must be thoroughly familiar with and capable of performing a variety testing such as but not limited to EEG, vEEG, cEEG and EMU monitoring.

    2. Performs accurate, technically acceptable standard electroencephalograph (EEG) procedures on all inpatients and outpatients as ordered by physicians.

    3. Provides technical educational support for floor staff in resolving questions about basic lead placement and equipment operation. When requested precepts, instructs, and evaluates students and new employees.

    4. Assists with scanning, pruning, clipping, and archiving routine EEGs and cEEGs.

    5. Obtain standard recordings following American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) guidelines, recognize artifacts, and take appropriate steps to eliminate them. Describe all abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the exam. Cleans & maintains equipment.

    6. Obtains preliminary patient history, explains procedures to patients, verifies patient understanding.

    7. Files the charge and completes the performed exam.

    8. Participates in department meetings, in-service and lecture programs as they relate to neurodiagnostic services.

    9. Maintains a daily volume log of all patients and procedures, including but not limited to outpatient & EEG monitoring.

    10. Assists in facilitating the completion of neurodiagnostic quality assessment and improvement activities for areas of responsibility and compiles necessary data.

    11. Ability to take on-call weekdays, weekends and holiday.

    12. Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.

    13. Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patients, physicians, associates, and visitors to Trinity Health. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.

    14. Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Trinity Health Ministry.

    15. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.

    16. Knowledgeable about patient preps and lead placements related to various testing modalities.

    17. Verifies printed order with cart computer screen to validate accuracy of order completion. and neurodiagnostic services.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND** **CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

    Education:

    + High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.

    + Completion of Neurodiagnostic Technologist program preferred

    Experience:

    + Six months of experience working in an EEG lab

    + Current Basic Life Support certification.

    Certification/Licensure:

    + At least 1 year of experience related to the neurodiagnostic field or
