We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual with advanced leadership skills to join the team at our hospital in **Nampa, ID** as a **Lead P** **atient Registration** **Specialist!**
As a Lead Patient Registration Specialist, you will work under the guidance of the manager, to perform registration duties as well as advance in those skills by taking on complex and advanced skills. You will greet patients and family members in a professional and courteous manner as well as obtain, and verify demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information during the (pre)-registration process. You will also accept point of service payments or provide guidance for payment options and clear the patient for service delivery. You will act as the primary point of contact between the Patient Registration Team and management.
**POSITION DETAILS:** This position will provide support for both our Garrity and 12th Ave Emergency Department locations. This position will work 3, 12-hour night shifts a week,
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** **:
+ High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Associate degree in Accounting or Business Administration highly desired.
+ Past work experience of at least 2 years within a hospital or clinic environment, an insurance company, managed care organization or other health care financial service setting, performing medical claims processing, financial counseling, financial clearance, accounting, or customer service activities is required.
+ Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and medical record coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) is preferred.
+ Completion of regulatory/mandatory certifications and skills validation competencies preferred.
+ Completion of certification and skills competencies such as the Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist Professional (CRCSP) through the American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) and/or Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) through the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) is preferred.
JOB DUTIES** **:
Patient Registration & Verification
Accurately verifies patient identity, demographics, insurance, and enters data into hospital systems to ensure correct and complete records.
Financial Counseling & Payment Collection
Provides cost estimates, explains financial responsibilities, collects payments, and refers patients to financial assistance resources when needed.
Insurance & Authorization Management
Performs insurance eligibility checks, secures authorizations/referrals, and ensures accurate documentation to support billing and reimbursement.
Customer Service & Communication
Delivers empathetic, professional support to patients, families, and staff, ensuring a positive experience in a fast-paced environment.
Leadership & Training
Trains and mentors staff, disseminates updates, and supports ongoing education and performance improvement initiatives.
Compliance & Data Integrity
Maintains HIPAA compliance, protects patient information, and ensures data accuracy across all systems and processes.
Problem Solving & Escalation
Identifies and resolves complex issues or escalates them appropriately to ensure smooth operations and patient satisfaction.
Scheduling & Patient Flow Coordination
Manages patient scheduling, bed assignments, and transfers to support efficient care delivery and resource utilization.
Process Improvement & Collaboration
Participates in interdepartmental teams to enhance workflows, improve service delivery, and support organizational goals.
Professionalism & Adaptability
Demonstrates ethical behavior, strong communication, time management, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and environments.
