    Job Title: Senior Accountant – Fixed Asset SME (Contract-to-Hire)

     

    Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (Full-Time Conversion Expected)

    Compensation:

    + **Contract Rate: $40–$60/hour**

    + **Salary Range (Upon Conversion): $94,000–$110,000**

    + **Bonus: 4–5% annual bonus potential**

     

    Our client, a leading provider of innovative material handling solutions, is seeking a Senior Accountant – Fixed Asset SME to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. As a Senior Accountant – Fixed Asset SME, you will be part of the Accounting Department supporting Fixed Asset Accounting, Lease Accounting, and General Accounting. The ideal candidate will have Fixed Asset, budgeting, capitalization, and revenue recognition experience, as well as experience as a SME supporting junior accountant.

    Position Overview:

    As the Senior Accountant – Fixed Asset SME, you will be the go-to expert for all things related to fixed assets. You’ll play a critical role in managing capital expenditures, supporting ERP implementation, and mentoring accounting staff across multiple campuses. This is a high-impact role with visibility across finance, budgeting, and operations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + **Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for fixed asset accounting across three campuses and ERP systems.**

    + **Lead fixed asset capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.**

    + **Consolidate fixed asset data across multiple systems (Marengo, Houston, Grand Rapids).**

    + **Collaborate with the budgeting team on CAPEX planning and financial impact analysis.**

    + **Support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries and variance analysis.**

    + **Prepare tax schedules, manage lease accounting entries, and handle intercompany reconciliations.**

    + **Participate in warranty program accounting and revenue recognition for specific business units.**

    + **Mentor junior accountants locally and remotely on fixed asset best practices.**

    Required Qualifications:

    + **Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.**

    + **4+ years of accounting experience with a strong focus on fixed assets and CAPEX.**

    + **Experience with lease accounting, warranty liabilities, and revenue recognition.**

    + **Strong understanding of month-end close and financial reporting.**

    + **Ability to work across multiple ERP systems and consolidate data effectively.**

    + **Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.**

    Preferred Technical Skills:

    + **Excel: Advanced (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, Indexing, Financial Modeling)**

    + **ERP Systems: SAP S/4HANA (preferred), AS400 (trainable), OneStream**

    + **Data Tools: Power BI (used heavily for reporting)**

    + **Lease Software: Exposure to LeaseQuery or similar tools**

    + **Hybrid Schedule: 3 days onsite (Wednesdays and Thursdays required; 3rd day flexible)**
