    Job Description

    The Counseling Program within the College of Arts, Sciences, and Education at Texas A&M University- Texarkana is currently seeking an outstanding candidate at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank in Counselor Education. This is Tenure-Track position that will begin in the fall of 2025. The ideal candidate will be core faculty, capable of teaching graduate-level courses in the CACREP Clinical Mental Health program. The candidate must have a strong commitment to the counseling profession, dedicated to evidenced-based teaching, including experiential learning, and an active research agenda. The successful candidate may teach in online or in-person modalities, but fully remote employment will be considered. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.     The successful candidate will serve as an educator in the CACREP-accredited MS Counseling program. Their responsibilities will include teaching a 3/3 course load, advising students, and participating in faculty meetings and other associated duties such as committee service. Ongoing scholarly research is expected. The ideal candidate may teach online or in-person modalities, but fully remote employment will be considered.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Teach graduate courses in our CACREP-accredited master’s degree program in clinical mental health

    + counseling.

    + Advise graduate students.

    + Work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines.

    + Contribute to curriculum, maintenance of CACREP accreditation, course development, and commitment to innovative teaching technologies.

    + Serve on departmental, academic, and university committees/assignments.

    + Perform professional and scholarly research.

    + Co-Advisor or Primary Advisor to Chi Sigma Iota

    + Possible Clinical Coordination

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    Minimum Qualifications – Assistant Professor Rank

     

    + Earned doctorate in counseling from a CACREP-accredited program in counselor education.

    + Hold or be eligible to hold a professional counselor’s license

    + Documented success in teaching graduate courses in counselor education.

    + Documented success in the supervision of graduate student interns.

    + Evidence of scholarship and research agenda.

    + Professional Counseling Association membership

     

    Minimum Qualifications – Associate Professor Rank

     

    + All of the minimum qualifications required for the Assistant Professor Rank

    + At least 5 years of higher education experience as an Assistant Professor

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience with web-based instruction.

    + Familiarity with CACREP accreditation or program evaluation.

    + Experience as a licensed counselor.

    + Basic computer skills needed for teaching, research, and publication.

    This position generally does not supervise employees.
