    Naval Hospital Guam is a 282,000 square foot facility and is comprised of the main hospital in Agana Heights, and a branch health clinic, at Apra Harbor on Naval Base Guam. The Naval Hospital consists of nearly 700 staff who serve more than 27,000 beneficiaries.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities:

    + Make mental health diagnoses in accordance with the most recent version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) when differential diagnosis is required.

    + Assess and provide intervention for individuals with a wide range of chronic medical conditions, and behavioral health issues affecting medical conditions to include assessment and disposition of beneficiaries with acute and chronic risk.

    + Educate clinic staff on the principles of primary care behavioral health via trainings and briefings

    + Assist primary care providers with the treatment of patients with known high-risk factors such as suicide, history of trauma, and co-occurring substance use disorders.

    + Evaluate clinical records and monitors all objective instrument administration and scoring for quality assurance.

    + Provide consultation regarding interpretation and approval of outcome measures and screening instruments.

     

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.     EDUCATION: Completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology,

     

    EXPERIENCE: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal Service which includes providing treatment using modalities that include but are not limited to cognitive-behavioral therapy and psychoeducational classes; Performing Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) biopsychosocial evaluations; Developing treatment processes and procedures; Conducting outpatient group classes to different age groups including children and adolescents and evaluating and approving educational materials for use by clinic staff and patients.

     

    LICENSURE: Current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.

    Education:

    FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
