    Overview

     

    To assist with planning, managing, and directing various business unit related strategic & operarational functions, including, but not limited to strategic planning, change management, communication, space management and operational programs. Provide service and leadership in support of department wide strategic and operational initiatives, and improve internal processes and capabilities to enhance cross-functional relationships. Serve as subject matter expert regarding branch functions, systems, policies and procedures. Manage daily activities of professional employees. Support senior management in developing, communicating, tracking and executing strategic priorities and plans. Act as Manager in the incumbent’s absence.

    Responsibilities

    + Guide the operational planning process; work with senior leadership to create and implement strategic communication plans and objectives that align with department goals.

    + Lead planning and content development for strategic events.

    + Oversee internal department-wide messaging across various channels to ensure consistency, clarity, and alignment with brand and strategic priorities.

    + Provide strategic and competitive analysis and recommendations that influence key decisions by senior department leadership regarding technology and financial market trends.

    + Serve as the communications liaison for senior leadership, providing counsel on messaging, tone, and timing for high-impact initiatives.

    + Provide overall leadership to large strategic projects and/or programs; ensure effective management of projects from inception through implementation.

    + Lead and/or represent business unit in change management efforts, cross-functional initiatives, and department/organization projects.

    + Assist with developing and overseeing branch strategy, establishing priorities, and setting goals, evaluating and implementing standards to ensure alignment with department/organizational objectives.

    + Establish and maintain communication standards, templates, and best practices across the business unit.

    + Measure communication effectiveness through feedback loops, analytics, and performance metrics to continuously improve outcomes.

    + Assist with managing and directing operations to ensure targets, service level agreements and corporate objectives are met.

    + Mentor and guide team members on communication best practices, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement.

    + Monitor work environment and direct allocation of resources to ensure adequate staffing to meet production and member service standards.

    + Involved in conducting benchmarking and trend analysis to drive continuous improvement and elevate service performance, increase member experience quality, reduce losses, minimize financial risk, and maintain high operational efficiency.

    + Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and Navy Federal policies and procedures.

    + Contribute to a culture of collaboration by actively working across business lines, communicating knowledge, and business processes to other business units.

    + Provide forward thinking expertise in current and emerging trends, technologies, and practices.

    + Develop, recommend, and oversee the implementation of new/updated policies, procedures, goals, and priorities as necessitated by demands, changing conditions and/or management requests.

    + Identify and resolve operational and performance gaps and obstacles; recommend and implement changes to improve operations, standards, and results.

    + Identify, develop, and recommend innovative solutions for systems and process improvements.

    + Prepare reports and make presentations to senior leadership.

    + Perform supervisory/managerial responsibilities.

    + Ensure adequate/skilled staffing; select employees.

    + Establish performance goals and priorities.

    + Prepare, conduct, and review performance appraisals.

    + Develop, mentor and counsel staff.

    + Provide input and/or prepare budget requirements for Annual Financial Plan (AFP)

    + Leadership Level – Supervise daily activities.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    + Significant experience in leading, organizing, and controlling complex multi-function operations, preferably in a large financial institution.

    + Significant experience in strategic planning and facilitation of strategic discussions

    + Advanced experience in strategic communications planning and execution

    + Advanced knowledge of change management principles and its impact on the organization

    + Demonstrated ability to translate complex initiatives into clear, compelling messaging for diverse audiences.

    + Proven record of leading communication efforts for enterprise-wide initiatives.

    + Strong understanding of internal communications platforms, tools, and analytics.

    + Experience in crisis communication and executive-level messaging.

    + Advanced knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, rules, and regulations

    + Advanced knowledge of financial industry trends, products and services, and technology

    + Significant experience in working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, and vendors.

    + Significant experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals.

    + Advanced skill using innovative thinking to solve problems and facilitate the decision making process.

    + Advanced skill interacting with staff, management, vendors, and members diplomatically and tactfully.

    + Advanced skill identifying and analyzing business requirements and recommending solutions.

    + Advanced skill producing desired results and achieving goals and objectives.

    + Advanced skill developing and implementing programs in a leadership role, providing vision and strategic thinking around a full range of decisions and issues.

    + Advanced skill to influence, negotiate and persuade to reach agreeable exchange and positive outcomes.

    + Advanced organizational, planning, and time management skills

    + Advanced skill exercise initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions.

    + Advanced research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

    + Advanced skill building effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy, and tact.

    + Advanced skill in project management to include establishing and leading project teams; managing timelines/deadlines/resources; ensuring successful project implementation.

    + Advanced skill presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and concisely.

    + Advanced analytical thinking skills include summarizing information and clearly identifying key elements, patterns, results, or relationships.

    + Advanced skill building strategic and execution-focused plans and alliances with partner leadership.

    + Significant experience supervising and leading employees.

    + Advanced verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills

    + Advanced database, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software skills

    + Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Communications, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

    Desired Qualifications

    + Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field

    + PMP Certification
