Job Summary and Qualifications

Patient Transporters are responsible for the safe and expeditious transport of customers and supplies to and from locations throughout the hospital campus. Patient Transporters are required to operate and maintain (cleanliness/safety) various types of patient transport devices such as; beds, specialty chairs, stretchers and wheelchairs to include associated support equipment such as; oxygen tanks, monitoring equipment, IV poles, IV pumps, bed inflation units and drainage tubing and containers.

Patient Transporters provide these services following all policies and procedures. Patient Transporters will participate in the quality improvement process and adhere to the hospital standards of behavior.

**SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES** :

+ Ability to help move patient from bed or stretchers utilizing proper body mechanics

+ Ability to stand for long periods of time

+ Frequent lifting, pushing and pulling

+ Demonstrated skills in organization, verbal and written communications

What qualifications/licensures/certifications you will need:

+ High School Graduate/GED

+ Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification - or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

+ Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certification - or must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

+ Ability to lift/carry and push/pull 110 lbs + Associate’sDegree - preferred

+ Previous transport experience - preferred

+ Knowledge of medical terminology - preferred

+ Previous customer service experience - preferred
