    Overview

     

    We’re looking for a Financial Reporting Lead to lead a critical function within our finance team. In this individual contributor role, you will own external financial reporting and technical accounting for our growing solar and storage IPP. This position plays a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and clarity in financial disclosures, supporting both internal stakeholders and external partners.

    Responsibilities

    + Lead the preparation and timely completion of periodic external reporting documents including quarterly and annual financial statement reports of project level entities and corporate parents.

    + Lead the creation of templates for annual financial statement reports and identify new disclosure requirements prior to year end.

    + Both this role and accounting team will be responsible for getting the reports out the door until we understand how this role fits in and demands on timing, etc.

    + Assist with research and documentation of technical accounting matters (and drafting of related white papers) including:

    + Contract review assessment of new power purchase agreements

    + Contract review assessment of other energy agreements

    + Assessment of new lease agreements

    + Assessment of entities’ going concern and long-lived asset impairment, as necessary

    + And other agreements as may be assigned.

    + Assist with research and analysis of new or updates to accounting pronouncements under U.S. GAAP.

    + Assist accounting team with documentation/update of internal controls over accounting and financial reporting processes including data base maintenance

    + Coordinates accounting group training initiatives

    + Liaises with auditors as part of the financial reporting process.

     

    Education & Experience Required

     

    + Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field

    + Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial reporting, technical accounting, or related roles, preferably within the energy, infrastructure, or public accounting sectors.

    + CPA (preferred)

    + Experience with NetSuite (preferred) or other comprehensive performance data system

    + Experience with Workiva (preferred)

    + Experience working at a renewable energy company

    + Experience documenting accounting positions under US GAAP for unique transactions

    + Task oriented, results driven, and capable of multitasking in a very fast-paced environment

    + Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, with a proactive approach to optimizing reporting processes, enhancing controls, and driving efficiencies across finance functions.

     

    Locations: Preference to Washington DC office and open to other office locations including Asheville, NC and Durham, NC. Hybrid schedule, 3/week in office.

     

    Compensation: The salary range for the position is $105,000-$145,000 plus bonus and benefits. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
