About the Role:

We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team. Reporting to the SVP, General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel, this role provides strategic legal guidance across business units, ensuring compliance with laws and corporate policies. You’ll play a key role in protecting the organization’s interests and advising senior leadership on complex legal matters.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Provide timely legal counsel on labor law, corporate finance, governance, and more

+ Support compliance and corporate governance efforts

+ Manage litigation and develop defense strategies

+ Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents

+ Liaise with regulators, external counsel, and public authorities

+ Stay current on legal and regulatory developments

Qualifications:

+ J.D. degree and admission to a U.S. State Bar (VA license or eligibility required)

+ 5–9 years of in-house legal experience preferred

+ Background in insurance law or compliance is a plus

Skills:

+ Strong ethics, judgment, and communication skills

+ Experience advising compliance teams and managing governance

+ Excellent negotiation, organizational, and analytical abilities

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office; LinkSquares knowledge a plus
