Description
The Director, Business Development for Amazon Air Cargo is the single-threaded leader for business development, sales and account management. You will build and lead a world-class sales team. You will own the sales strategy for all Cargo customer types and partners, including direct shippers, freight forwarders, sales agencies, booking platforms and SaaS solutions. You will own engagement on sales and Go To Market topics across Amazon supply chain business units and will be the Cargo lead for strategic initiatives related to scaling in the supply chain space. You will be the public face of Amazon Air Cargo globally and will be the relationship owner for the most senior contacts within our most important customers.
Amazon Air Cargo leverages a network of more than 100 aircraft and over 250 destinations, originally created for Amazon customers, this network now brings speed, reliability and technology to a wide variety of B2B customers.
Amazon Air Cargo is the newest of Amazon's supply chain business units and operates as a true start-up, within the world's largest start-up. As such, you will thrive in ambiguity, you will seek out big thinking and innovation, you won't be afraid to take risks and will show bias for action when you see opportunity.
The Director will have a clear track record of building B2B businesses, will have built world-class sales organizations and have a history of innovating on behalf of B2B customers.
Key job responsibilities
* Own the sales strategy for Amazon Air Cargo
* Build and develop a highly effective team across business development, sales and account management
* Drive customer and business growth through scalable, impactful worldwide partnerships
* Track, measure, and analyze the performance across structured mechanisms, metrics and processes
* Partner with product and tech to build a technology roadmap that drives scale
* Partner with Marketing on holistic Go To Market strategies
* Lead Cargo cross team engagement for GTM topics

Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in business, economics, marketing, math, finance, or similar fields
* 10+ years of relevant work experience in sales, business development
* 10+ years' experience building and leading sales teams
* Experience building sales/GTM strategies and collaborating across multiple organizations
Preferred Qualifications
* MBA or other advanced degree
* Experience driving business development cycles with executive-level leadership in Fortune 500 companies
* Demonstrated success leading through influence, building engagement, and partnering across organizations at the highest level
* Experience with supply chain and transportation-focused businesses
* Experience in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and collaborative environment
* Ability to manage complexity in relationships, business dynamics, internal/external partners, and stakeholders
* Proven ability to gain collaboration and buy-in from business unit leaders throughout the organization
* Entrepreneurial, with a proven track record for building new B2B-focused businesses
* Experience leading sales teams with 20 or more members
* Experience operating in driven, enthusiastic, collaborative, and high-risk environments
* Demonstrated success leading through influence, building engagement, and partnering across organizations at the highest level

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $232,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $345,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
