    Description

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our client's team on a contract to hire basis! The ideal candidate will take ownership of key accounting processes, including ranch accounting, general ledger work, financial statement preparation, and the handling of operational and financial reviews. This is a dynamic role requiring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a critical understanding of financial practices.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Perform general ledger reconciliations and account analysis, ensuring accurate postings and clean financial records.

    + Enter and process general contractor invoices in the accounting system.

    + Record and manage depreciation schedules for company assets, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

    + Prepare and draft smaller financial statements, including supplemental pages, to assist with company reporting.

    + Assist with periodic financial reviews, ensuring the accuracy and relevance of financial data.

    + Develop a critical understanding of financial data to identify discrepancies and areas of improvement.

    + Create, process, and maintain accurate records for ranch-related purchase orders. Assist with integrating purchase orders into the company’s accounting system to enhance tracking efficiency.

    + Monitor and record expenses for over 20 ranch locations, ensuring accuracy in cost allocation and supporting efforts to establish processes for untracked ranches.

    + Handle requests related to adding newly acquired equipment to insurance policies, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to timelines.

    + Special Projects and Miscellaneous Tasks

    + Participate in ad hoc projects and tasks to support company accounting initiatives and overall goals.

     

    Qualifications and Skills

     

    + Accounting Knowledge: Experience in accounting required; a combination of education and work experience in accounting or finance strongly preferred.

    + Excel Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including data entry, organization, and reporting. Familiarity with advanced functions like VLOOKUP or pivot tables is a plus.

    + Demonstrated ability to interpret financial data, identify discrepancies, and organize complex information with precision.

    Requirements

    Required Qualifications and Skills:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.

    + 1-3 years of accounting experience is preferred, but candidates with strong internships or relevant hands-on expertise are highly encouraged to apply.

    + Proficient in Excel: Strong data entry skills and an ability to use formulas, charts, and advanced functions like pivot tables and VLOOKUP.

    + ERP System Knowledge: Familiarity with ERP systems such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or SAP is desirable.

    + Detail-Oriented: Exceptional accuracy in reconciling accounts, tracking costs, and preparing financial data.

    + Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex financial data and identify discrepancies or inefficiencies.

    + Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members, vendors, and other stakeholders.
