Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Mechanic Falls, Maine. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Financial Controller and other team members to ensure accurate financial reporting and provide valuable insights to support strategic decision-making. This position involves preparing detailed reports, maintaining reconciliations, and assisting with month-end closing processes.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with organizational standards.

• Provide timely and detailed financial data to support management decision-making.

• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring proper documentation and account tracking, especially for prepaid and accrual accounts.

• Maintain and update fixed asset schedules, including tracking depreciation and reconciling subsidiary ledgers with general ledger accounts.

• Oversee the tracking and capitalization of construction-in-progress assets.

• Review and validate travel and purchasing card expenses, ensuring proper documentation and appropriate account posting.

• Calculate and accrue sales and use taxes as needed, and compile monthly sales tax reports.

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and assist with AR/AP functions as required.

• Support payroll processing and assist with internal and external audits.

• Collaborate with the Controller to address routine financial issues and develop improved processes. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience demonstrating attention to detail.

• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a strong understanding of financial processes.

• Proficiency in account reconciliation, journal entries, and general ledger management.

• Hands-on experience with month-end closing and balance sheet reconciliation.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

• Familiarity with ERP systems, such as Epicor, is highly desirable.

• Knowledge of sales and use tax regulations, including accrual processes.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
