Description We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our team in Sacramento, California. This Contract-to-long-term position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of the organization while collaborating with various departments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting practices, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post entries to the general ledger using Excel, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Reconcile and process credit card transactions, providing support to staff in completing their reconciliations and ensuring timely approvals.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, review general ledger accounts, and prepare journal entries for depreciation, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, and other adjustments.
• Oversee accounts payable by processing invoices, verifying vendor information for 1099 reporting, ensuring proper approvals, and issuing timely payments.
• Manage accounts receivable by reviewing invoices for accuracy, addressing discrepancies, and ensuring timely submission and corrections as needed.
• Record and verify business transactions, including funds received and disbursed, using QuickBooks.
• Process and reconcile staff expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and accurate payment records.
• Handle loan disbursements, payments, and account reconciliations, while keeping all loan accounts up to date.
• Generate monthly financial reports, ensuring they are accurate and delivered on time to program managers and other stakeholders.
• Assist with the preparation and reconciliation of client reports, making adjustments based on team requests. Requirements
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, with a focus on accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks.
• Strong knowledge of journal entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members, vendors, and clients.
• Familiarity with preparing financial reports and ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
