Description We are looking for an experienced Payroll Supervisor/Manager/Director to oversee payroll operations within our logistics organization based in Jersey City, New Jersey. This role is pivotal in ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and efficiency for a multi-state workforce. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and well-versed in payroll systems and regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the complete payroll process for a multi-state workforce, ensuring timely and accurate disbursement.
• Oversee weekly and semi-monthly payroll cycles for various employee classifications, including exempt, nonexempt, and union staff.
• Ensure payroll operations comply with company policies and established approval workflows.
• Administer payroll for bonuses, commissions, and other special payments while adhering to tax and labor laws.
• Stay updated on and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and reporting requirements.
• Lead payroll audits, including internal, external, and government-mandated reviews, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare detailed payroll reports, tax filings (such as W-2s and 941s), and other compliance documentation in collaboration with third-party vendors.
• Monitor legislative updates and implement necessary changes to payroll processes and company policies.
• Provide guidance and support to the payroll team, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability. Requirements • Extensive experience with payroll systems, including ADP Workforce Now and Ceridian.
• Proficiency in multi-state payroll processing and compliance.
• Strong understanding of tax reporting and payroll regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Familiarity with payroll-related tools such as Crystal Reports and ATS systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in benefits and 401(k) administration.
• Solid background in accounting and auditing principles.
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team within a fast-paced environment.
