    Position will serve as an Assistant District Engineer in the Jacksonville District Office, which serves Onslow and Pender Counties. This position is primarily responsible for the review, and approval of driveway permits, encroachment agreements, subdivision plans, and road additions. Position will supervise Engineering Technicians including the distribution of workload, tracking of permits as they move through the review and approval process, and performance evaluation. Will perform on-site inspections for compliance to NCDOT specifications for driveway permits, encroachments, and subdivisions. Will perform field inspections and prepare deficiency letters as it relates to road additions.

    + Experience in applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems

    + Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision

    + Customer service experience related to resolving problems that involve explaining complicated engineering concepts to various customer groups

     

    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Necessary Special Qualification: May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors
