    *Part Time position - 20 Hours a week.*

     

    Join CGI Federal’s Housing Sector team, which collaborates with public housing authorities (PHAs) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to support affordable housing initiatives. We are seeking a dedicated Housing Inspector to join our dynamic team in Ulster County, New York. This role offers the chance to work alongside affordable housing providers within a supportive and collaborative management environment. New team members receive comprehensive training to equip them for their responsibilities, with additional opportunities for professional development in both the affordable housing sector and general business skills.

    The Housing Inspector will be traveling to areas within and around Ulster County.

    Your future duties and responsibilities:

    The Housing Inspector will utilize a mobile device to conduct inspections of program units, ensuring compliance with the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) National Standards for Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE) and the Housing Authority’s Administrative Plan.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct inspections of Housing Choice Voucher subsidized units, representing CGI and PHA clients within the community.

    • Ensure units meet NSPIRE standards as well as state, county, and local codes.

    • Efficiently perform a high volume of detailed inspections, documenting conditions that do not meet standards in clear reports.

    • Ensure timely inspections and compliance with NSPIRE violations within specified timeframes.

    • Conduct reinspection’s to verify completion of required work within set time constraints.

    • Educate program participants, agencies, and the public on NSPIRE and PHA regulations, policies, and procedures.

    • Address inquiries related to NSPIRE and inspection matters.

    • Collaborate effectively within team to resolve issues and deliver quality service to landlords and program participants.

    • Provide exceptional customer service in partnership with team members.

    • Perform duties as assigned by the Inspections Supervisor and provide staff coverage as needed.

    • Escalate urgent issues to the Supervisor.

    • Adhere to all policies and procedures.

    Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

    • High School diploma required.

    • 1-2 years of experience in building maintenance, construction, property management, housing programs, or real estate appraisals, or equivalent education and experience.

    • NSPIRE certification required within three months of employment.

    • Ability to coordinate work activities, make independent decisions, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

    • Strong interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with CGI partners, clients, landlords, and tenants.

    • Proficiency in computer skills and use of smartphones/tablets.

    • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record, meeting state insurance requirements.

    • Access to a reliable vehicle for daily fieldwork.

    Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:

    Experience in the fields of Public Housing, Housing Choice Voucher, Real Estate, Building Inspections is highly desirable

     

    • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and negotiation skills, good organizational skills, detail-oriented

    • Self-starter that can work independently to assure completion of daily work assignments

    • Licensed Home Inspector (Preferred)

     

    CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $38,100.00 - $83,800.00.
