    Description

    We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Property Management Accountant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a key part in managing property financial transactions, ensuring compliance with local and state requirements, and maintaining accurate financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial properties. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent analytical skills, a strong understanding of property management accounting, and a commitment to operational excellence.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Property Tax Management: Oversee property tax information, ensuring timely payments, recording accruals, and tracking assessed values.

    + Financial Transactions: Approve and occasionally initiate wire transfers while maintaining the accuracy of cash management spreadsheets.

    + Lease & CAM Provisions: Review new leases for CAM (Common Area Maintenance) provisions and document relevant provisions in Yardi and Excel.

    + Retail/Percentage Rents: Manage the collection and tracking of retail and percentage rents for tenants.

    + CAM Reconciliations: Prepare CAM reconciliations for assigned properties, coordinate adjustments, and ensure tenants receive appropriate documentation.

    + Internal Payments: Review and process internal management fee payments.

    + Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with local and state agencies and assist in researching requirements for new property acquisitions.

    + Journal Entries & Reconciliation: Generate adjusting journal entries with backup documentation and perform monthly bank reconciliations.

    + Budget Assistance: Support the semi-annual budgeting process for property tax, insurance, business licenses, and FTB (Franchise Tax Board) taxes.

    + Balance Sheet Accounts Review: Review AR, AP, prepaid expenses, and security deposit accounts to ensure accuracy.

    + Acquisition Support: Assist with financial onboarding for newly acquired properties.

    + Process Development: Contribute to the development, training, and implementation of new accounting policies, controls, and procedures.

    + Software Testing & Implementation: Assist in testing and implementing new accounting software functions and features.

    + Backup Support: Provide backup support for AP (Accounts Payable) and AR (Accounts Receivable) staff as needed.

    + Ad-hoc Projects: Perform additional tasks and projects as assigned by the manager.

    Requirements

    Qualifications & Skills Needed:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.

    + Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably within commercial property management.

    + Proficiency in Excel (intermediate to advanced), Word, and Outlook; experience with Yardi Voyager property management software highly preferred.

    + Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

    + Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with internal teams and external stakeholders.

    + Experience interpreting legal documents, such as management agreements, loan agreements, and tenant leases, and applying them appropriately.

    + Familiarity with principles of compliance reporting and managing financial transactions related to commercial properties.
