Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity at a well-established company in CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team! In this role, you will be performing a variety of accounting tasks, including maintaining financial records, processing transactions, and resolving inquiries. You will also be responsible for managing customer accounts and conducting appropriate actions when necessary.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately process all accounts payable transactions
• Compute, classify, and record numerical data to maintain complete financial records
• Conduct routine calculations, postings, and verifications to obtain primary financial data for accounting record maintenance
• Check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by other workers
• Compile data as requested and maintain computer files using easy to recognize file naming conventions
• Prepare documentation for contracts, transactions, and regulatory compliance
• Verify and maintain the accuracy of all data for accurate financial reporting
• Utilize accounting software, spreadsheets, and Word documents to record, store, communicate, and analyze information
• Reconcile and pay company credit card statements
• Process the onboarding of new employees, schedule pre-employment tests, and set up training
• Maintain accurate employee files and employment folders as per regulatory agency guidelines
• Provide accounting support to project managers as needed
• Assist in developing processes that align with current accounting software.
Requirements • Possession of skills in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Capability to perform Bank Reconciliations accurately and efficiently
• Proficiency in managing General Ledger
• Experience in creating and managing Journal Entries
• Demonstrable expertise in Month End Close procedures
• Familiarity with handling Payroll for Union members
• Knowledge of Union Dues processing
• Proficiency in using Vertex Sales & Use Tax software
• Experience in managing Payroll Taxes
• Ability to handle Onboarding procedures for new hires
• Experience in conducting New Employee Orientation sessions
