Summary This position is located within the House Creative Services Department, Customer Experience Center (CEC), Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), U.S. House of Representatives (House). The Customer Experience Center communicates, markets, brands, and delivers customer service to the House community. House Creative Services (HCS) is a one-stop shop for graphic design, photography, videography, and other multimedia needs. Responsibilities Job Summary: The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers, and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 650 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, childcare, food and vending, procurement, logistics, and administrative counsel. This position is located within the House Creative Services Department, Customer Experience Center (CEC), Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), U.S. House of Representatives (House). The Customer Experience Center communicates, markets, brands, and delivers customer service to the House community. House Creative Services (HCS) is a one-stop shop for graphic design, photography, videography, and other multimedia needs. This position does not have day to day supervisory/managerial responsibilities Primary Duties and Responsibilities The primary duties and responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: • Provides videography services to Member, Committee, and House support offices; applies experience and creative artistic ability in proceeding with or anticipating Members and/or staffs requirements/desires. • Engages with Member office staff to storyboard ideas, present creative solutions, and set realistic expectations. • Assists with multiple projects, revisions, and timelines as needed. • Handles videographic assignments involving House Members, their constituents, and specific “Official” Congressional events. • Operates cameras and related equipment, ensuring professional picture composition, focus, and capture. • Manages all technical aspects of videographic equipment to the extent of making necessary settings for each assignment. • Assists with/in coordinating special events involving Members, Heads of State, the State of the Union address, and Joint Sessions of Congress as required. • Assists with/in the maintenance of historical records, as well as miscellaneous House videography administrative records; ensures compliance with internal CAO and HCS documentation formats and procedures to include lines of communication and document tracking/records management. • Maintains and performs minor repairs on assigned videographic equipment as required; advises the applicable management of any operational problems or malfunctions. • Manages incoming calls, answers routine inquiries, tracks, forwards, and/or takes messages as appropriate, and ensures that adequate phone coverage is maintained during official business hours. • Delivers excellent customer service; ensures the availability of support services and provision of accurate and timely information. • Applies communication techniques to assess and define customers’ needs and expectations correctly. Employs written and verbal communication skills to communicate recommendations for creative strategy. • Stays apprised of day-to-day operations and keeps appropriate management informed of ongoing activities as well as areas of concern. • Maintains adequate, understandable records on a timely basis and in accordance with general standards. • Ensures transactions are processed within the service level agreement as set forth by the Chief Administrative Officer and House regulations. • Performs other official duties and special projects as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Qualifications •Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Visual Communications, Broadcast Journalism, or related field. • 3+ years of experience as a professional videographer. Will consider a photographer with 7+ years experience as a photographer with 1-2 years experience with videography. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with live streaming is a plus • Experience working with Members of Congress and government officials is desirable. Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactorily completing a criminal history records check (or other applicable security clearance) and a pre-employment drug-test (pre-identified position only).
