Facility:Dayton Children's - Main CampusDepartment:Pharmacy AdministrationSchedule:Full timeHours:40Job Details:The Medication Safety Officer is a pharmacist clinical leader who works under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy. The Medication Safety Officer in conjunction with medical staff, pharmacy staff, nursing staff, quality and patient safety staff, and other pertinent healthcare providers is responsible for guiding the design, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of safe medication systems within the hospital. Duties include, but are not limited to: medication safety practice improvement, policy development/revision, regulatory compliance assurance, quality improvement, medication safety program development and staff development/education. The Medication Safety Officer evaluates DCH’s current medication use processes and drug usage to identify opportunities aligned with improving safety, designs solutions to system failures and institutes practice changes. The Medication Safety Officer is responsible for working collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure that medication safety goals and quality improvement objectives are achieved. The Medication Safety Officer works independently and collaboratively to investigate, implement and monitor medication safety initiatives.
Clinical generalist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution and clinical services. The pharmacist is responsible for the provision of safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy to patients at Dayton Children's Hospital. Utilizing a decentralized pharmacy care model the pharmacist collaborates with the patient care team to monitor effectiveness of patient therapy, provides drug information to healthcare professionals, pediatric patients and their families, reviews physician orders, and coordinates dispensing of medications. The pharmacist oversees the daily pharmacy operations within their designated department to ensure the safe and appropriate delivery of medications to the patient. The pharmacist oversees the pharmacy students and technicians, and serves as the verification for products prepared by the technicians. The pharmacist adheres to State Board of Pharmacy laws and that of other regulatory agencies.

Education:
+ Doctor of Pharmacy is required.
Certifications:
+ Licensed pharmacist and eligible for pharmacist licensure in the State of Ohio required
+ PGY1 Pharmacy Residency OR
+ PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency (or relevant PGY2 specialty residency) OR
+ Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist (or board certified in relevant specialty) OR
+ >4 years of pediatric pharmacy experience
