    Overview

     

    MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) is seeking two data-driven and results-oriented Managers, Service Analysis to support efforts to improve service performance across Subway, Bus, and Paratransit operations. One position will focus on Subways, and the other will focus on Buses and Paratransit.

     

    Reporting to the Senior Director, Service Performance & Analytics and supporting the Chief Operating Officer (COO) , each Manager will play a critical role in identifying trends, evaluating operational issues, and developing actionable insights to enhance service reliability and effectiveness. These individuals will work closely with Operations Planning and other NYCT departments to deliver timely, accurate performance reporting and strategic recommendations.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Analyze operational issues affecting service delivery across Subway, Bus, and Paratransit modes.

    + Track, report, and assess service Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and provide detailed updates on trends and outliers to NYCT senior leadership.

    + Prepare recurring performance briefings and reports for the President, COO, and Chief of Staff, NYCT.

    + Identify service bottlenecks and develop data-informed recommendations to improve performance.

    + Coordinate with internal stakeholders to prepare and present service data and ensure alignment with strategic goals.

    + Develop and maintain tools (charts, dashboards, tables) for tracking and visualizing performance metrics and productivity indicators.

    + Collaborate with Operations Planning and Command Centers to assess service speed, headways, and reliability.

    + Conduct variance analysis and apply lessons learned from prior operational issues to inform mitigation planning.

    + Support special projects and analytical initiatives as directed by senior leadership.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in public administration, transportation planning, urban studies, data analytics, operations research, or a related field.

    + At least 3 years of full-time, progressively responsible experience in transit operations analysis, performance reporting, or service planning.

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with demonstrated experience managing data-driven projects.

     

    Preferred Skills

     

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization platforms.

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to executive audiences.

    + Familiarity with public transit operations and associated performance metrics.

    + Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

    + Experience working in matrixed environments and cross-functional teams.
