Summary This position is located with the JBLM Outdoor Recreation Program. Responsibilities Serve as the working leader over the maintenance section. Checks work in progress and when finished for compliance to procedures, methods and specifications according to manufacturers technical specifications. Repairs and maintains a variety of gasoline/diesel powered equipment such as boats, campers, etc. Performs repairs such as changing fuel and oil filters, hydraulic repairs, replacing belts and hoses, etc. Repairs may also involve some welding. Uses a variety of test equipment such as equipment analyzers, electric chargers, compression testers, micrometers, and electric circuit testers. Also uses such tools as welders, drill presses, pneumatic riveting tools, drill saw, etc. Identifies maintenance problems through periodic checks or when equipment is brought in for repair or service. Maintains records of inventory and repairs performed. Establishes a preventive maintenance scheduling for all recreational equipment. Waits on customers, by checking identification, issuing equipment, assisting and providing information at time of issue on proper care, use, and responsibility of equipment. Inspects equipment for cleanliness, damages and proper operation. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Experience or training that indicates sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position consistent with acceptable practices of the trade.
