A Snapshot of Your Day
As a small team, we have three main responsibilities: Strategy, Market Development, and Executive support (presentations, special projects, etc.)! This is a position where you have to work very independent and create ideas on what we should do, versus being told what to do. So, thought leadership and innovative thinking is basically the talk of each day.
How You’ll Make an Impact
+ Deliver clear and trusted insights about the market environment for entire Siemens Energy portfolio from different perspectives, e.g. external analyst reports and market research, competitor financial filings, customer strategies, internal operational data in order to lead NA representation in the company-wide strategy processes: Market Evaluation Process, Quarterly Competitor Reporting, and Customer Net Promoter Score evaluation, with formalized reporting to Siemens Energy top management
+ Provide local market & domain insights for the global strategic agenda of Siemens Energy as well as for respective top management/ board member briefings. Develop & drive corporate strategy into a regional strategy (e.g., decarbonization). Operate as a thought partner to the Managing Director to set the direction of strategy. Identify regulatory trends and assess impacts on the energy markets. Analyze competitor strategies regionally and create counter strategies
+ Systematically identify, develop, validate, and grow new businesses. Ability to build in-depth knowledge of adjacent industries, including gathering knowledge about key players, strategic goals, value chains, sources of disruption, trends, technologies, start-ups and market potential that may provide opportunities
+ Bringing existing products/ solutions/ services to new market and new industries as well as new products/ solutions/ services to existing and new customers/ markets by assessing both markets and customers and resolving gaps that need to be addressed.
+ Identify and develop assets, alliances, partnerships, investments, and industry relationships to enhance our position as a respected inspiring leader within the related industry and will provide a sustainable advantage to improve the success of the new business
+ Lead/ develop internal executive management presentations and communications. Lead other special projects and duties as assigned
What You Bring
+ 10+ years of strategy and business development and overall 15+ years industry experience in the field of Energy (NA market knowledge) with demonstrable skills and knowledge in energy consultancy, market research firm, investment bank, or similar (i.e. more emphasis on Oil & Gas & Industrial applications, all different types of generations, complete transmission products, solutions, and services as well as alternative / clean / distributed energy generation, and working with utilities) and a minimum of a bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering (MBA preferred)
+ Demonstrated proficiency in thinking strategically and completing tactically to develop and launch new business solutions that support our strategic vision with proficient business planning skills, inclusive of financial and operational model preparation
+ Proficient in ability to successfully manage large, diverse technical and business teams both internally and externally using a collaborative leadership style. Ability to structure and negotiate complex business agreements addressing technology, operational, intellectual property, and policy matters
+ Proficient in ability to facilitate extensive independent research, ability to take full initiatives from inception to completion, ability in problem-solving and thinking strategically, and ability in project and process leadership skills
+ Demonstrated knowledge and real expert proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite software including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook as well as others like Efficient Elements, Think Cell, Tableau, etc.
+ Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
