    Overview

     

    Children’s Mercy Partial Hospitalization Program Registered Nurse

     

    Children’s Mercy Partial Hospitalization Program (CMPHP) is a structured intensive outpatient treatment program that serves as an avenue between inpatient admission and specialty ambulatory services. Our program is designed for children with medical complexities who are suffering with mental illness and neurodevelopmental behavioral patients. Our mission is to provide the healing support the child and family need through teaching appropriate skills like communication, self-management, and independence to facilitate their transition back into the community.

     

    CMPHP registered nurses are responsible for initial assessments and management of physical, medical, and medication considerations for patients. Registered nurses effectively assess and monitor patients medical and psychiatric care and function during the program as part of the personalized care team.

New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

    Responsibilities

    + Provide and coordinate care by assessing physical, medical, and behavioral health needs of patients.

    + Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate plan of care for the patient and family that promotes optimal patient health outcomes.

    + Medication management.

    + Participate in care team meetings to discuss patient status and progress toward therapeutic goals.

    + Completes a telephonic assessment of patients requesting admission to the program.

    + Provides crisis intervention and initiates emergency response plan, when necessary.

    + Meets the educational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their needs.

    + Maintains an environment that is safe, comfortable, efficient, and family-centered.

    Qualifications

    + Associate's Degree Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training

    + Bachelor's Degree Preferred for all direct care nurses hired after September 1, 2013. Direct care nurses hired after this date without a BSN, must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date. and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training

    + At least 2 years of nursing experience in a pediatric and/or psychiatric setting highly preferred

    + One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas required upon hire

    + One of the following: Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire

    + RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO

    + Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire

    + Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred Upon Hire

    Starting Pay

     

    Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $30.50/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

     

    Remote Work/Work from Home

     

    This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
