Position Overview:Provides telephonic support to Service Members and Veterans during periods of transition, including when accessing mental health services for the first time or transitioning to a new provider or healthcare system. Offers guidance, emotional support, and resource navigation to ensure continuity of care and encourage successful engagement with behavioral health services. Utilizes motivational interviewing techniques to engage and empower individuals in identifying and achieving personal goals, while addressing barriers to care. Conducts comprehensive risk assessments for suicide, homicide, and threats of violence, and effectively manages crisis situations as needed. Manages an assigned caseload and may assume additional responsibilities aligned with experience and expertise. Serves as a mentor and resource for less experienced coaches, supporting their professional development and adherence to best practices.

Position Responsibilities:
+ Supports members through use of motivational interviewing to identify targeted area of focus and develop action plan to improve overall functioning of impairments related to targeted area.
+ Provides information to members and providers regarding mental health and substance abuse benefits, community treatment resources, mental health managed care programs, company policies and procedures, and criteria.
+ Assesses clinical risk, identifies urgent needs, and connects callers to appropriate military support services, community resources, and support groups tailored to their individual needs.
+ Offers expert guidance in navigating TRICARE, VA services, and the complex behavioral healthcare system during critical transition periods.
+ Advocates for members to ensure treatment needs are met. Interacts with providers, community agencies and referral sources in a professional, respectful manner that facilitates the treatment process.
+ Maintains an active caseload in accordance with coaching performance standards.
+ Provides relevant community resources to support goal plan or resource materials to assist in meeting objectives.
+ Interacts with company supervisory staff to discuss concerns regarding specific cases.
+ Participates in quality improvement activities, including data collection, tracking, and analysis.
Requirements
Position Requirements:
+ 3 years’ experience post degree in psychiatric and/or substance abuse health care setting, including utilization review.
+ Requires a Master’s level clinician with a MA, MS, M.Ed. in Social Work, Counseling at a minimum or a comparable program.
+ Requires an active licensure; LPC, LCSW or comparable.
+ CEAP certification & ICF Coaching certifications preferred (ICF Certification required within 1st year of employment).
+ Knowledge of current DSM and experience in a clinical setting.
+ Ability to analyze specific problems, plan and implement solutions that directly influence quality of care.
+ Strong organizational skills with knowledge base in typing and computer systems.
+ Capable in providing accurate participant triage assessment including level of risk.
+ Sensitively and compassionately responds to participants.
+ Excellent listening skills and strong customer services skills required.
+ Demonstrates knowledge and expertise in solution-focused, problem-solving counseling and crisis intervention.
+ CEAP certification & Coaching certifications preferred.
+ Flexible; adjust well to new situations and changing priorities.
+ Maintain a positive, achievement-oriented attitude and consistent in accomplishing expected objectives.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
+ Prior experience supporting DHA, DoD, or VA healthcare programs.
+ Familiarity with behavioral health coaching models or case management practices.
+ Previous Experience working with the Veteran Health Administration.
