    When will I work?

     

    + The primary work hours for this position are Monday – Wednesday, 6:00pm to 6:00am with overtime required when needed, typically on Thursday and or Fridays.

    Position located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota i n our Metal Fabrication department.

     

    What will the work look like for me?

     

    As a Production Lead, you'll be the driving force behind team development and leadership. You'll create dynamic training plans, empowering your team with the skills and knowledge they need to excel. Leading daily meetings, you'll foster a collaborative environment, ensuring smooth operations and effective communication across shifts. By utilizing lean tools, you'll streamline processes, prioritize tasks, and consistently deliver top-notch results. You'll also play a key role in staffing, training, and maintaining confidentiality, all while adhering to the highest safety standards. As a working supervisor, machine operation will be a regular responsibility as well with approximately 50% of your time utilized running equipment to help the team achieve success.

    Production Lead:

    + Team Development:

    + Develop training plans and apply available resources to execute the plans.

    + Ensure each employee has knowledge of the tools and resources available to learn and perform their tasks.

    + Provide positive reinforcement to team members to encourage their development.

    + Team Leadership :

    + Leadership experience is preferred but not required

    + Conduct daily tier meetings.

    + Encourage effective and consistent participation in 5S activities.

    + Escalate issues from the team to management as needed.

    + Assist in interviewing, hiring, and training new employees.

    + Write and present compensation summaries.

    + Maintain strict confidentiality of information associated with people development.

    + Business Leadership :

    + Utilize lean tools and concepts to run and improve the business (standard work, visual controls, tier meetings, and PDCA).

    + Audit processes by working with operators on following and improving operator standard work.

    + Monitor production startup and check operator needs.

    + Lead tier 1 startup meeting to communicate performance and plan to team and facilitate team discussions and participate in tier 2 meetings.

    + Attend Gemba walks with supervisor to maintain current standards and identify improvement opportunities.

    + Audit TPM tasks, this helps improve overall quality on machines and reduce downtime related to those issues.

    + Work with day shift metal supervisor and production manager to create and execute daily production plans.

    + Work effectively as a team member with little supervision.

    + Communicate effectively with all Daktronics team members.

    + Consistently complete quality work in a timely manner.

    + Perform other duties as assigned and needed to meet customer and/or department expectations.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    + Learn to operate and perform Metal Machine Operator duties (Punch, Press Breaks, Mill, Inserter, Sander)

    + Collaborate with the EA Nights Production Supervisor to optimize staffing and minimize downtime.

    Qualifications

    To be considered for the Production Lead position, we require the following:

    + High school diploma or GED required.

    + An Associate's degree is preferred for this position but not required. We also welcome candidates who possess an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.

    + Required to work overtime when overtime shifts are scheduled.

    + Regularly and reliably work the scheduled hours.

    + Good communication skills.

    + Ability to learn quickly and successfully participate as a member of a team.

    + Ability to work with minimum supervision.

    + Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work area in accordance with Daktronics Safety Policy and OSHA standards. Items may include safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, and electrostatic discharge wear. You will be provided the PPE for the required areas.

    + Physical requirements include the ability to:

    + Work in an environment with these types of smells: paint, solvent, and solder.

    + Frequently lift 35 lbs. Occasionally to frequently lift 45 lbs., in some work areas.

    + Stand for the full shift with planned breaks. The duration of standing between breaks varies from 2-3 ½ hours depending on work area.

    + Work from heights, including working from ladders and platforms.

    + Reach in all directions (up, down, side-to-side, and diagonal reaching), including some awkward reaching to insert components in difficult to reach sections of the product.

    + Maintain steady hand/eye coordination.

    + Identify wire and paint colors.

    + Read fine print.

    + Fluent in English, written and verbal.

    + Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
