Our Enforcement Division’s staff attorney must be a self-starter, with a positive outlook, who is detail oriented and enjoys working with a team. The ideal candidate should have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as excellent time management skills.
As the division staff attorney, you will be a part of a team of compliance officers and criminal investigators who work with businesses operating in Georgia to assure compliance under the Workers' Compensation Law, to deter fraud through education, public relations and investigations, and to enforce the rules and regulations of the Workers' Compensation Board. In cases of non-compliance, you will negotiate settlement of cases, draft and file the appropriate documents with the court, and when appropriate prepare for hearings and litigate the cases in before the Board’s Administrative Law Judge. In support of the Board’s mission to educate and provide excellent public relations, you may have the opportunity to represent the Board on committees, in meetings, at training events, and work on other special projects, as needed.

Minimum Training & Experience : Completion of a law degree AND License to practice law in the State of Georgia OR Eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination OR Reciprocity.

Juris Doctorate in a related area from an accredited college or university and license to practice law in the State of Georgia or eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination followed by Georgia Bar exam passage and licensure to practice law in the State of Georgia within one (1) year of hiring or reciprocity and three (3) years of relevant legal experience; or three (3) years of experience required at the lower-level Attorney 3 (LEP022).
