Job Summary
This position is responsible for the accounting and related compliance for Revenue Accounting and Supply Accounting for UGI Utilities, Inc.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage and responsible for monthly general ledger closing, analyses and reporting for the Revenue and Supply accounting department. This includes account reconciliations & analytics.
• Responsible for the fair presentation of the related revenue and supply accounting financial areas on external filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and the PA Public Utility Commission (PUC). This includes ownership of SOX processes and external and internal audit compliance.
• Work in conjunction with Customer Service regarding the Company’s Bad Debt Accrual and assume ownership of the accounting, budgeting and forecasting of the Company’s Bad Debt and related metrics, including potential changes to the reserve model.
• Manage the PUC audits related to Revenue & Supply Accounting (PGC, USP, GSR, EEC, etc). Act as the witness on the audit items pertaining to accounting.
• Develop strategic vision for the department, coaching, development, performance reviews, efficiencies and effectiveness.
• Performing special projects such as assigned by senior management, technical accounting memos, implementation of an accounting procedure, process or regulatory requirement.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Minimum of 7 years related supervisory work experience in corporate or public accounting, Big Four experience preferred
• Strong analytical skills as well as written and oral communication skills
• Expertise in General Accepted Accounting Principles (required) and the FERC Uniform System of Accounts (preferred)
• Expertise in Sarbanes Oxley 404 requirements and ability to manage key controls over financial reporting
• Ability to work across disciplines such as gas supply, rates, marketing and other functional units. Ability to communicate with multiple persons throughout the Company to accomplish objectives
• Strong Excel skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Experience with ERP systems, SAP preferred.
Education and Experience
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or other related area.
+ Minimum of 7 years of related supervisory work experience in corporate or public accounting (Big 4 experience preferred).
+ CPA required.
+ Desirable – Public Accounting Experience (Big 4 preferred).
