The Drug Delivery and New Product Innovation Group within Lilly’s DDCS (Delivery and Device Connected Solutions) function studies physiological barriers across various routes of administration to apply and create novel patient centric drug delivery solutions. With a broad focus to develop injection device platforms and novel delivery devices to improve patient care, the group focuses on serving as a Center of Excellence in the following areas
+ Injection physiology (across various injection barriers) and new device ideation including modeling and simulation
+ Novel Drug Delivery technologies (for all modalities across various routes of administration) to create next-gen patient centric medicines
+ Nanomedicine and Targeted delivery
+ Connected devices, digital biomarkers
We are seeking a highly collaborative and self-motivated professional with experience in developing and characterizing drug delivery systems to:
Key Responsibilities
+ Lead multiple research projects, collaborating with diverse teams, and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders to drive advancements in drug delivery systems.
+ Conduct _in vitro_ and _in vivo_ studies to support product development hypotheses using drug delivery technologies.
+ Generate new ideas and evaluate novel drug delivery methodologies, including local delivery, controlled release, and sustained release systems.
+ Identify and evaluate potential drug delivery technologies and biomaterials for further development.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate drug delivery systems into drug development programs.
+ Maintain a deep understanding of combination products, device-enabled delivery and theoretical knowledge of first principles of drug delivery.
+ Engage with the external scientific community to enhance internal research efforts and identify collaboration opportunities.
+ Develop, mentor, and train junior team members to foster growth and development.
Qualifications and Requirements
+ PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry/Chemistry/Materials Science/ Chemical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial experience, MS with 10 years of relevant experience, BS with 15 years of relevant experience.
+ Demonstrated technical mastery and scientific leadership in advanced drug delivery and drug transport through research publications and/or patents.
+ Knowledge of drug delivery devices and combination products is preferred.
+ _In Vivo_ animal research experience is preferred.
+ Self-motivated, dedicated and adaptable to evolving priorities.
+ Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
+ Ability to work in a dynamic and multidisciplinary matrix environment. Ability to work well within a team.
+ Ability to travel about 10% of the time.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$121,500 - $198,000
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
