Mechanic
Job Description
As a mechanic, you will identify and provide solutions to equipment malfunctions and failures through the inspection, diagnosis, repair, reconditioning, and preparation of equipment in a satisfactory and timely manner, both in-house and in the field. Your role includes working with heavy-duty off-highway transmissions, axles, and components from various vendors.
Responsibilities
+ Inspect and diagnose equipment malfunctions and failures.
+ Repair and recondition equipment both in-house and in the field.
+ Work with heavy-duty off-highway transmissions, axles, and components.
+ Convert transmissions from manual to automatic.
+ Work on telehandlers and skidders.
+ Rebuild transmissions, rear ends, and engines.
+ Adhere to DOT regulations when applicable.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in diesel maintenance and heavy equipment.
+ Proficiency in hydraulics, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and diagnosis.
+ Ability to troubleshoot and repair engines.
+ Good attitude with a go-getter mentality.
+ Desire to grow with the company long term.
+ Supply of own basic set of tools.
+ High school graduate or equivalent.
+ Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
+ Knowledge of basic hydraulic principles and DC current and electronic fundamentals.
+ Ability to read and understand assembly manuals, drawings, and schematics.
+ Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, and customers.
+ Good physical condition with the ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for 8 consecutive hours.
+ Dexterity and agility sufficient for climbing around equipment, repairing equipment, and driving vehicles with clutch transmission.
+ Strong customer service orientation with a demonstrated sense of urgency.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience working with marine equipment is preferred.
+ 3-5 years of heavy equipment mechanic experience is preferred.
+ 3-5 years of diesel tech experience.
+ Experience with Deutz and Isuzu Line is preferred.
+ Vocational training or military mechanic training is a plus.

Work Environment
The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 6am to 4pm, with potential for hours to start or end one hour earlier or later. Work takes place in a newer shop focused on heavy equipment, ranging from construction to marine equipment, in a smaller team setting where candidates must fit well within the team dynamic.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sumner, Washington.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
