Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated General Laboratory Supervisor to oversee the operations of a CLIA/CAP-accredited laboratory specializing in high-complexity Mass Spectrometry testing for Minimal Residual Disease (MRD). This role is directly responsible for regulatory compliance and managing a team of technologists to achieve deliverables.
Responsibilities
+ Supervise day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring accurate and timely testing.
+ Perform and oversee sample preparation, instrument operation, and data analysis.
+ Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate complex problems as needed.
+ Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, and internal SOPs.
+ Monitor test performance, conduct routine QC reviews, and implement corrective actions.
+ Maintain records of equipment maintenance, calibrations, and validations.
+ Provide guidance and support to laboratory technologists and assist with training and competency evaluations.
+ Oversee inventory management, supply ordering, and resource planning.
+ Coordinate staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and efficient workflow.
+ Ensure onboarding of new personnel includes safety, compliance, and technical protocols.
+ Participate in document review processes, including SOP revisions and document change orders.
+ Support validation studies and implementation of new assays or protocols.
Essential Skills
+ Qualified as a General Laboratory Supervisor or Director for high-complexity testing. Supervisory experience in a CAP/CLIA high complexity lab is required.
+ 2-5 years of industry experience in a CLIA and CAP certified lab.
+ Understanding of CLIA and CAP compliance regulations and general business flow.
+ Experience writing NCRs
+ Experience opening CAPAs
+ Experience participating in CLIA/CAP, FDA, or MDSAP audits
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Project management experience preferred.
+ Soft skills: willingness to learn, strong communication, ability to lead a diverse team, and effective communication with international counterparts.
Work Environment
The work environment consists of a small team of 30 employees, offering the flexibility of core business hours from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with potential shifts starting as early as 6:30 am. After demonstrating proficiency, there is an option for a hybrid schedule of 4 days in-office and 1 day remote. The supervisor will lead a team of 4 technologists and collaborate closely with counterparts and the Technical Supervisor. The team enjoys monthly social activities such as potlucks and ice cream socials
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.53 - $41.35/hr.
