Job Title: Distribution Technician
Job Description
As a Distribution Technician, you will design distribution routes for an Engineering and Construction Services Contractor, starting with an engineered scope of work. You will take ownership of projects from start to finish, including field verification of existing facilities, designing new facilities, managing customer communications, permitting, and entering data into the utility’s work management system. You will produce CAD drawings, perform staking, and prepare job packets for construction.
Responsibilities
+ Design overhead and underground rebuilds, conversions from overhead to underground, voltage conversions, substation feeder exits, and red-tagged pole replacements.
+ Conduct field verification of existing facilities and design new facilities to be placed.
+ Manage customer communications and permitting processes.
+ Enter project data into the utility’s work management system.
+ Produce CAD drawings and prepare job packets for construction.
+ Perform inspections and design replacements for poles that have been red-tagged.
Essential Skills
+ 2+ years of experience in Xcel Energy Design, preferably in electric distribution.
+ Proficiency in distribution design and utility design.
+ Experience with SAP software and telecommunication systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with gas distribution design is beneficial.
+ Knowledge of fiber and telecommunications systems.
Work Environment
The work territory spans Western Wisconsin (from La Crosse to Iron Mountain, MI) and Southern Minnesota. Field visits for pole replacement work are part of this role and can be scheduled for 2-3 days a week, twice a month. You will do the fielding work yourself, then complete design work remotely.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
