Job Title: Tool EngineerJob Description
We are seeking a skilled Tool Engineer to design, build, and maintain progressive dies used in high-volume metal stamping processes. The role involves proficiency in reading blueprints, using CAD software, operating basic machine tools, and utilizing mechanical and optical measuring devices. The ideal candidate will troubleshoot manufacturing issues to ensure precision and quality of stamped parts, collaborate with other departments to determine tooling methods and design concepts, and obtain quotes for new dies and die repairs.
Responsibilities
+ Design, build, and maintain progressive dies used in high-volume metal stamping processes.
+ Maintain molds and ensure their functionality.
+ Troubleshoot manufacturing issues to ensure precision and quality of stamped parts.
+ Collaborate with other departments to determine tooling methods, applications, and design concepts.
+ Obtain quotes for new dies and die repairs.
+ Develop engineering specifications including mechanics, materials, tolerances, designs, and cost estimates.
+ Inspect finished dies for accuracy and functionality.
+ Order tooling and components for new die builds.
+ Supervise the initial tool use in production.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in reading blueprints.
+ Expertise in CAD design and AutoCAD software.
+ Metal stamping tool design experience.
+ Injection mold design capabilities.
+ 6+ years tooling experience.
+ Broad knowledge of mechanical engineering.
+ Strong vendor communication skills.
+ Root cause problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in engineering disciplines such as mechanical engineering.
+ Vendor communication experience.
Work Environment
This role requires onsite and hands-on support for tooling design and modification, as well as hands-on production support. Work hours are Monday to Thursday from 6 AM to 4:30 PM, and Friday from 6 AM to 10 AM.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
