Occupational Therapist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to provide comprehensive services aimed at enhancing functional abilities for daily self-care tasks. This role involves evaluating patients, creating treatment plans, and maintaining clear communication with patients, families, and care teams. You will document evaluations, daily notes, progress notes, plans of care, and discharge summaries in a timely manner. Collaboration with the rehabilitation team to coordinate treatment programs and develop home programs using evidence-based guidelines is key.

Responsibilities

+ Manage referrals and build rapport with healthcare practitioners.

+ Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.

+ Train and evaluate therapists and supervise occupational therapy assistants.

+ Assist with staff orientation, equipment maintenance, and supply inventory.

+ Commit to cost reduction and productivity improvement.

+ Adapt to changing patient schedules and maintain positive working relationships.

+ Contribute to Quality Assurance reports and program development.

+ Attend department meetings and comply with policies and procedures.

Essential Skills

+ Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy.

+ Valid Iowa Occupational Therapy license.

+ Compliance with professional standards and ethical guidelines.

+ Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification.

+ Mandatory Reporter training certification (within 30 days of hire).

+ Ability to work independently and exercise sound decision-making.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Ability to accept and work with diverse populations, culturally, economically, and educationally.

+ Must have a valid driver's license, auto liability insurance, and reliable transportation as driving is required.

Work Environment

You will work out of the Creston, Iowa location, providing care to patients in home and nursing facilities in the surrounding area, primarily serving the elderly population. You will report to the Homecare Director in Creston, working alongside 30 other staff members including RNs, Aids, and a Clinical Manager. You will handle on average 15 cases per day, typically ranging from 12 to 18 cases. Travel is required between locations and homes using your own vehicle. The Creston location serves several counties including Adair, Adams, Clark, Decatur, Ringgold, Taylor, and Union. Physical requirements include medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently. The role involves various physical activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, fingering, hearing, grasping, and repetitive motions. Visual acuity is needed for analyzing data, viewing computer screens, using measurement devices, operating machines, and making general observations. Typical working hours are 7:30 AM to 4 PM with flexibility required for varying schedules and programmatic requirements. Latest appointments usually extend until 5 PM. Benefits include biweekly paychecks, PTO accrual totaling 152 hours annually, and 8 paid holidays plus 2 floating holidays.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $76413.00 - $114620.00/yr.
