Job Title: Design Engineer
Job Description
This role involves the design, development, and lifecycle management of heavy-duty alternators used in trucks, buses, military, and specialty vehicles. The position requires a strong focus on creating next-generation alternators from concept through to production, collaborating effectively in a global team setting.
Responsibilities
+ Design next-generation alternators from concept to production in a global team setting.
+ Perform advanced CAD modeling and manage engineering data.
+ Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure design for manufacturability and tooling.
+ Lead product testing to meet both customer and industry standards.
+ Conduct design reviews and maintain Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEAs).
+ Manage project plans in alignment with TS and APQP standards.
Essential Skills
+ Mechanical design experience.
+ Proficiency in Creo, 3D modeling, and GD&T.
+ Experience in new product development.
+ Strong experience in mechanical and electromechanical design.
+ 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
+ Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME/MS) or equivalent experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with AC generators, DC alternators, and rotating equipment.
+ Proficiency in CAD tools, with ProE/Creo required and SolidWorks preferred.
+ FEA experience, particularly in magnetics or stress analysis, is preferred.
+ Familiarity with 5S, Lean Six Sigma, Windchill, Minitab, and tolerance analysis.
+ Strong project leadership, time management, and organizational skills.
Work Environment
The role involves working 80% in an office setting and 20% in a more hands-on environment with cross-functional teams focused on product development.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
