Job Title: Network Engineer

Job Description

As a Network Design Engineer, you will design and plan network systems by providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. You will be a member of a cross-functional integration team responsible for developing, supporting, and maintaining submarine combat system network architectures. You will apply your extensive technical expertise to provide specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solutions to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.

Responsibilities

+ Design and plan network systems by providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.

+ Develop, support, and maintain submarine combat system network architectures.

+ Provide detailed information for hardware and software selection and implementation techniques.

+ Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects.

+ Lead a team of junior engineers, providing mentorship and guidance.

+ Determine network capabilities that can be integrated into submarine systems.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, or equivalent experience.

+ Minimum of 10 years of relevant job-related experience, or Master's degree with 8 years of experience.

+ Technical expertise in network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing.

+ Superior Red Hat Linux or CentOS Administration and deployment background .

+ Extensive experience with OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes, or other container orchestration/PaaS/Cloud technologies.

+ Programming skills in Python, Bash, and Ansible.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Certifications in Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

+ Certifications in Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD).

+ Solid knowledge and troubleshooting skills in LAN switches, routing architectures, and network services.

+ Experience in security vulnerability studies and defense-in-depth strategy.

+ Ability to develop solutions to highly complex problems.

+ Ability to lead a team and mentor with independent judgment.

Work Environment

+ This position is 100% on-site in Manassas, primarily in the lab environment.

+ The role may require occasional visits to another site for lab access.

+ A flexible 9/80 schedule is available.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $72.00/hr.
