    Job Title: Estimating AssistantJob Description

     

    The Estimating Assistant will play a crucial role in the operations to ensure quality production in a safe manner, adhering to industry standards. The position involves managing material distribution and collaborating with the shift supervisor to build a team focused on safety, quality, and production.

    Responsibilities

    + Provide detailed estimates to customers promptly, working from material lists, shop drawings, or elevation take-offs, and occasionally architectural plans and specifications.

    + Follow up on estimates and offer feedback regarding market pricing levels.

    + Achieve acceptable sales and margin levels, monitoring actual versus estimated costs, and collaborate with the estimating supervisor to adjust standards accordingly.

    + Offer consultation, coordination, and assistance to customers, the sales force, and internal personnel.

    + Maintain detailed and organized records of quote/bid documents, correspondence, and other project-specific information.

    + Travel with outside sales personnel as required to promote customer relations, though this is infrequent.

    Essential Skills

    + Minimum of 5 years of experience estimating small to mid-size manufacturing or construction projects.

    + Ability to read, interpret, and understand architectural drawings and specifications, providing detailed take-offs and estimates incorporating different building envelope solutions.

    + Strong geometry and math skills.

    + Organized, self-starter with the ability to manage numerous projects, prioritize workload, and work independently.

    + Effective communication skills with excellent written and verbal capabilities.

    + Good working knowledge of fabrication and installation to understand customer needs.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with glazing projects is highly preferred.

    + Prior estimating experience with a glazing sub-contractor is preferred.

    + Extensive knowledge of aluminum glazing systems and their applications.

    + Strong understanding of glass, composite metal panels, and other infill options is advantageous.

    + Experience with estimation software like PrefWeb, SLEC, VistaVision is a plus.

    + Curtain wall experience is beneficial.

    Work Environment

    The role is based in an office environment with typical working hours from Monday to Friday, starting between 7 AM and 8 AM, and finishing between 4 PM and 5 PM. The team is a lively, communicative group, and occasional travel opportunities may arise, although they are rare.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
