Job Title: Sr. Shipyard Laborer
Job Description
This role involves providing a variety of general laborer duties and services, including cleaning the yard, delivering materials, setting up for specified work on a vessel, preparing vessel surfaces, and assisting with docking and undocking vessels. The position also requires performing fire watch and hole watch duties, as well as assisting other shipyard workers and trades as needed.
Responsibilities
+ Provide fire-watch assistance, including setting up containment, equipment, leads, blowers, and ventilation.
+ Prep and clean work areas as directed by the on-site lead.
+ Operate basic standard tools and disassemble minor/major mechanical equipment as instructed.
+ Assist in docking and undocking vessels.
+ Deliver materials and set up work areas on vessels.
+ Perform cleaning and debris removal duties.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with general labor, fire watch, and ship repair.
+ Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
+ Knowledge of marine repair and shipyard operations.
+ OSHA 10 certification.
+ Ability to obtain a DBIDS.
+ Completion of OSHA/FW and RADCON training prior to starting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Previous shipyard laborer experience preferred.
+ Capability to fabricate and assemble various insulating systems.
+ Skills in cutting, shaping, positioning, alignment, and mounting on piping systems and ventilation ducting.
Work Environment
Work will be performed at Vigor Shipyard on the USS KIDD in Seattle. The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, and requires adherence to safety protocols and the use of protective equipment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Bremerton, Washington.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
