Job Title: Building Engineer

Job Description

Inspect building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing to ensure operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by the client at assigned properties. Perform day-to-day repairs, emergency maintenance, and preventive maintenance on all assigned properties or accounts, including daily housekeeping chores. Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems, including plumbing systems, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop, and HVAC.

Responsibilities

+ Receive and complete work orders for corrective repair work on a variety of building physical structures, equipment, and system components in a timely manner.

+ Oversee and inspect the work performed by outside contractors.

+ Maintain lighting systems throughout the facility, cleaning fixtures, and replacing bulbs and lamps.

+ Order necessary materials to complete all required repairs, within limits set by the Property Manager.

+ Complete all required paperwork within established deadlines to close out work orders.

+ Maintain and renew any required trade certifications and licenses.

+ Periodically meet with the assigned Property Manager to ensure that all maintenance work meets goals and objectives.

+ Ensure that requests for work exceeding routine day-to-day repairs or maintenance are properly referred and routed to the Chief Engineer for review.

Work Environment

Oversee multiple commercial buildings in the Roanoke, Blacksburg, and Christiansburg area. Use your personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement at 0.70 cents a mile. Work day shifts from 7 am to 5 pm, with potential on-call requirements as needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Blacksburg, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00/hr.
