    Job Title: Floor Inspector

    Job Description

    Quality Inspectors perform quality checks on manufacturing processes and products to ensure they meet established standards and specifications.

    Responsibilities

    + Use specialized equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to measure and verify product dimensions and tolerances.

    + Document and report any defects or non-conformities discovered during inspection, and work with production staff to resolve any issues.

    + Continuously monitor quality control procedures to identify opportunities for improvement, and make recommendations to management.

    + Conduct periodic audits of production lines to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

    + Collaborate with engineers and production staff to develop and implement new quality control procedures and testing protocols.

    + Stay up-to-date on industry standards and regulations, and ensure that all quality control processes are in line with these guidelines.

    + Train new employees on quality control procedures and expectations to ensure consistency in product quality.

    + Participate in cross-functional teams to identify and troubleshoot quality issues, and work with other departments to implement solutions.

    + Communicate with suppliers and vendors regarding quality control requirements, and help resolve any quality issues that arise throughout the supply chain.

    + Interpret drawings using standard GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to determine part conformity.

    Essential Skills

    + Proven quality experience in the manufacturing industry.

    + Detail-oriented with experience interpreting drawings and/or written work instructions to complete a quality task.

    + Proficiency in inspection equipment such as depth micrometer, calipers, height gauge, and tape measure.

    + Basic skills in mathematics and geometrics.

    + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

    + Availability to work overtime, including mandated Saturdays.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in a machine shop for custom part measurements.

    + Experience with Deburring for understanding the concept of finishing a part after machining.

    + Experience with machining to understand the concept of making a good part.

    + Experience in assembly to understand how correct parts need to fit together to fulfill orders.

    Work Environment

     

    Work in a traditional machine shop and assembly operation with over 100 CNC machines. The facility is climate-controlled and bright, providing a comfortable work environment. Inspectors will be required to walk the machine shop floor, which may be less organized and dirtier, and inspect at the machines. The role includes time in a more private quality area when necessary. The first shift is Monday to Friday from 7am to 3:30pm with heavy overtime, currently including Saturdays and extended hours until 4:30-5pm. The second shift runs from 3:30pm to 12am, also with heavy overtime, typically including weekends and 10-hour shifts.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, Indiana.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
