    Job Title: Manual Lathe Machinist

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Manual Lathe Machinist to oversee the manual operations of a lathe and handle up to 30 different parts a day. This role involves working with tight tolerances, performing quality inspections, and operating various machining equipment, including overhead cranes, hoists, mills, and CNC machines. The candidate will be responsible for machining large industrial equipment, where quality is of utmost importance.

    Responsibilities

    + Run up to 30 different parts per day, primarily overseeing the manual operations of a lathe.

    + Operate and program CNC machining equipment to make and repair various components.

    + Work from blueprints to produce a variety of components.

    + Perform drilling, cutting, tapping, threading, and use of blueprints.

    + Ensure adherence to all safety rules and perform housekeeping functions.

    + Handle tight tolerances and conduct quality inspections using measurement devices such as micrometers and gauges.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience with manual lathe operations.

    + Proficiency in drilling, cutting, tapping, and threading.

    + Ability to read and work from blueprints.

    + Skills in operating and programming CNC machining equipment.

    + Experience with tight tolerances and quality measurement devices.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience with cranes and hoists.

    + Knowledge of grinding and milling techniques.

    + Experience with large industrial equipment machining.

    + TIG welding experience is a plus but not required.

    Work Environment

     

    The shop is non-climate controlled and well-kept but can be dirty due to working on mining equipment. The first shift allows you to choose one of two shift options, while the second shift runs from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, Monday through Friday, with a $0.75 shift differential. Overtime is voluntary at first and then mandated as needed. Anything over 8 hours is paid at 1.5x, Saturdays at 1.5x, and Sundays at 2x pay.
