Job Title: Chief Inspector
Job Description
The Chief Inspector will supervise daily inspection activities and provide technical guidance to the inspection team. The role involves ensuring inspectors accurately perform electrical, mechanical, and visual testing on in-process and final cable products, evaluating products for conformity to engineering drawings, work orders, and quality standards.
Responsibilities
+ Supervise and provide technical guidance to the inspection team.
+ Ensure inspectors perform accurate electrical, mechanical, and visual testing.
+ Evaluate products for conformity to engineering drawings and quality standards.
+ Use precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, microscopes, multimeters, meggers, and hipot testers to validate product compliance.
+ Perform and oversee laboratory testing, including dielectric and continuity testing, dimensional checks, and fiber optic verifications.
+ Maintain inspection records, nonconformance reports, and documentation of corrective actions.
+ Oversee receiving inspections and ensure incoming materials meet required specifications.
+ Monitor and perform periodic calibration of test equipment and inspection tools.
+ Coordinate final product inspections and ensure shipping criteria and paperwork are complete and accurate.
+ Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address quality concerns and continuous improvement.
+ Conduct root cause investigations and assist in implementing corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
+ Train and mentor inspection staff on procedures, tools, and quality expectations.
+ Maintain a safe, organized, and clean inspection environment.
Essential Skills
+ Proven experience working in a supervisory role in the industry.
+ Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
+ Proficiency in production management and supervisory skills.
+ Expertise in quality control, assurance, and inspection processes.
+ Familiarity with precision instruments and laboratory testing.
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Effective time management and planning skills.
+ Ability to provide instructions in a positive manner.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Electrical experience is preferred.
+ Experience in process improvement and visual inspection.
+ Capability to teach operators to problem-solve quickly.
+ Flexibility to work long hours as required to meet project deadlines.
