Job Title: Low Voltage Technician
Job Description
We are seeking skilled low voltage technicians to join our team in the Hampton Roads and greater Richmond areas. The role involves updating systems and installing new wiring in commercial buildings with electrical systems ranging from 0-50 volts. You will be monitoring contractors, handling materials, and executing security, audio, video access control, and telecom installations and services.
Responsibilities
+ Install, test, terminate, and troubleshoot CAT5, CAT6, coax, and other low voltage cables for voice, data, video, and security in various settings.
+ Recognize and locate routers, switches, demarcs, phone systems, access points, printers, and fax machines.
+ Follow installation manuals to install cash registers, computers, printers, and other equipment.
+ Load and unload materials and tools safely and efficiently.
+ Install and connect copper LAN wiring, telephone wiring, and fiber optic cables following specifications.
+ Solve installation and connection problems as they arise.
+ Assimilate new methodologies and technologies related to cable installation.
+ Maintain proper documentation and paperwork.
+ Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and other contractors.
+ Train and supervise Assistant Cable Technicians and Helpers.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in low voltage systems, electrical work, and commercial wiring.
+ Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
+ At least 3 years of relevant experience.
+ Demonstrable technical skills in 66 BLOCK, 110 BLOCK, PATCH PANEL, and 8 PIN MOD PLUG.
+ Good driving record (DMV report required).
+ Strong computer skills, including proficiency with tablets and smartphones.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Electrical experience and fiber experience are beneficial.
+ BICSI certification is a plus.
+ DCJS certification is advantageous.

Work Environment
Work will be conducted primarily in retail and commercial spaces, including grocery stores, clothing stores, and restaurants. The schedule requires flexibility with rotating night/day shifts and potential out-of-town assignments. The company maintains a strict no-smoking policy and hires with a focus on long-term stability.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, Virginia.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $30.00/hr.
