    Job Title: Mechanical Assembler

    Job Description

    We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team. This role involves the assembly of large diesel and natural gas engines, utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, electrical testing equipment, and lifting devices/cranes. The successful candidate will manipulate engine components during the assembly process and learn the technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines. This is not an assembly line or basic assembler position; we are looking for individuals with mechanical aptitude akin to borderline mechanics.

    Responsibilities

    + Assemble large diesel and natural gas engines according to custom specifications.

    + Utilize various tools including torque wrenches, pneumatic air power tools, and DC tooling.

    + Interpret blueprints and work instructions to perform tasks accurately.

    + Review work instructions and document processes using CPU skills.

    + Troubleshoot and repair in-process engines.

    + Collaborate with team members to ensure quality assembly of engine components.

    Essential Skills

    + Proven experience in an industrial environment working with hands.

    + Experience using mechanical tooling such as torque equipment, DC tools, and hand tools.

    + Mid-level mechanical aptitude.

    + Ability to follow written work instructions, SOPs, and blueprints.

    + CPU skills to follow engineering drawings and processes.

    + Ability to pass written and hands-on assessment during training.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in industries such as automotive, diesel technician, lube technician, tire shop, farming, construction, and maintenance.

    + No diploma required.

    + Must score in the 21st percentile or above on the GL assessment.

    Work Environment

     

    The work environment is a temperature-controlled manufacturing facility, split between assembly and machine shop areas. The dress code is relaxed, allowing sweatshirts, t-shirts, and hats. Safety is a priority with PPE being non-negotiable, including steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses. The facility is tobacco-free, with designated areas for smoking during breaks. Shifts vary, with opportunities for overtime, and employees typically work in teams within designated zones.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, Indiana.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $21.34 - $22.09/hr.
