Description
The City of Norfolk's Department of Utilities is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Technician. This person operates a Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system to conduct inspections of sanitary sewer and record images used to evaluate the condition of infrastructure and identify blockages and failures.
Essential Functions
These essential functions include but are not limited to:
+ Inspect sanitary sewer pipes and laterals by operating a CCTV truck and the associated cameras and operating systems including pole cameras.
+ Drive and operate a CCTV truck safely, set up work zone traffic control, access utility manholes and conduct atmospheric testing for confined spaces.
+ Operate remote cameras and record video images. Use computers and associated software to create reports and work orders. Trouble shoot camera, video equipment, computer and software to identify problems and repair options.
+ Assist with performing field investigations of underground utilities. Locate and identify utility markings. Read and interpret engineering drawings and site plans.
+ Assist work crews by responding to calls to investigate and evaluate underground infrastructure.
Education/Experience
Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with at least six months of advanced study or one year of related construction or utility maintenance experience.
One year of construction or utility maintenance experience.
Additional Information & Requirements
+ Valid Driver's License.
+ Pipeline Assessment Certification (PACP) may be required depending on assignment.
Work Hours: Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Work Locations: 1316 Ballentine Boulevard, Norfolk, Virginia
This position is eligible for a one-time $5,000 signing bonus.
This position is designated as an Essential position which means you may be required to work extended, rotating, after hours, nights and/or weekends in response to emergencies and severe weather.

+ Retirement
If you are hired October 5, 2010, or after to a position with City of Norfolk Retirement System benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.
If you are hired January 1, 2022, or after to a position with Virginia Retirement System (VRS) benefits, you will be required to contribute five percent (5%) of your salary toward your retirement benefit. This will be a pre-tax payroll deduction.
+ The Tuition Assistance Program is established to encourage employees toward continued self-development and education. Permanent full-time and permanent part-time classified, unclassified permanent, full-time special projects, and constitutional employees who have completed six months continuous service will be eligible to apply. The applicant’s school of enrollment must be an accredited institution.
